“I’m back” sums up so much of how I feel right now. I have just finished my first year of “principaling,”(Amy D-P’s word). Today especially has felt like I really did make it through it; it was quiet, serene, and I got a lot done at the office. I especially got to THINK and PLAN and DREAM. I love that. I also got my hair cut, my car washed, and bought some good, healthy food. I will hang out with a dear friend tonight who has invited my new dog Daisy along. All that helps.
But I am also “back” to writing. I hit some kind of wall back in, let’s say February. What energy I had was reserved for school, family, some working out, and a little fun. I bet you can relate to this: your driving home in your car (or on the bus or subway), and you think of all you will do when you get home–ORGANIZE THOSE CLOSETS! CALL A FRIEND! WRITE A BLOG POST! READ A BOOK! Insert whatever…and then you cross the threshold and BOOM! The adrenaline-laced energy flushes out of your body like a flash flood, and all you want to do is sit and be. No conversations. No writing, no nothing. Your free time is so precious. But so is your energy, and it is in short supply.
But at some point, you get returned to yourself. And for me, today, June 20, my mojo has returned. It started on Monday when I took the day off and no one, no one, was at home. I read (Fifty Shades of Grey. HATED IT. What is all the fuss??!!). I watched a “Law & Order;” awesome! I just was. No conversations. No one needing anything. Perfection.
I did what I have longed to do but not had the energy: I set up my new blog account and domain (which I had bought in a moment of having some energy, apparently) that bears my name: beverlyknupprudolph.com. Just in case there was another one out there, I thought I should scoop it up.
So invite you to come along this journey with me. I’ll write about how hard and wonderful and awful and mysterious life is. I will be honest. I’ll pick up at some point on Fortunate and write more about the crazy amazing-ness that is my Dad’s side of the family (I’ll get to you, Mom!). I’ll write about sports, especially those Tar Heels, and I hope you come along with me. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be much point. Relationships and talking about what matters. What else is there?
Ah, I’m back.
Welcome back! Glad you got your mojo back. Have you seen mine anywhere?
It’s at the beach! I see it! 😉
